The Craft Behind Ebony Villa

Ebony and wenge are dense, dark and unforgiving. The craft is in the grain matching and in the restraint - letting the timber be the ornament.

Ebony & Wenge Grain Matching

Dark hardwoods are selected and matched so that grain flows continuously across doors, panels and table tops. Because the timber is so dark, any mismatch is immediately visible - there is nowhere to hide.

Silver Foil & Metallic Surfacing

Hand-applied silver foil and metallic surfacing give the collection its reflective quality, catching daylight and interior lighting across large flat planes.

Villa-Scale Joinery

Oversized pieces need oversized engineering: reinforced internal framing, multiple support points and joinery sized for the span, not scaled up from a domestic piece.

Hand Inlay & Carved Detail

Inlay and carved motif are used sparingly and precisely, so the decoration reads as a deliberate accent against the dark timber.

Timber Selection & Cutting

Boards are graded for grain, colour and defect, then cut to size.

Hand Carving

Carvers work the ornament by hand - a single carved rail can take a full day.

Marquetry & Inlay

Shell and veneer cut, trial-fitted and glued piece by piece, seams measured in millimetres.

Upholstery Stitching

Fabric cut, stitched and stretched; the pattern must align before it goes on the frame.
